Wow, am I the worst blogger ever or what? Geez...I just leave this spot dormant for what has it been? Over two weeks? Crazy. So here I am. Back! Well, truthfully, I never really went anywhere. haha! I was in Door County over the weekend, can I use that as an excuse? Really, it's been part laziness, part busyness and part because I have nothing to show.
Instead of projects (do I say this every time?) I have some great shots of our girls weekend in Chicago back in June!
Oh, Chicago, how I love thee!
(Please ignore my nasty tourist look - it was HOT that day.)
Doesn't this look a lot like the late great Michael Jackson? Weird huh? That's what we thought...so I had to take a picture.
There was just something about Chicago I really enjoyed. I think I like that while it has everything a big city has to offer, it also has a laid back nature to it. It doesn't have anything to prove. You can be who you like without having to try to be uber cool or whatever. Gotta love the midwest sensibility. :)
We had such a great time walking around the Taste of Chicago, the Field Museum, Michigan Ave. And then taking the wonderful architectural boat tour. Wow, was that ever awesome!
Can you imagine parking your car on this ramp. I hope you don't back up too far or you'll be in the river!
I would LOVE one of these condos!
This is the old Montgomery Wards building. (I think! There were so many buildings - it's hard to remember which is which.) Our tour guide said that because the building was so big, the employees used to wear roller skates to bring packages from one end of the building to the other. I want THAT job! How awesome would your day be if you got to roller skate back and forth for hours. I think the world would be a much better place if everyone wore roller skates to work. heeheehee
I really liked the Opera House.
Recognize one of these??? We didn't go up to stand on the
glass lookouts...thank goodness! (actually I think maybe those opened the following weekend.)
The old post office was used for a scene in
The Dark Knight. I don't remember which scene though and I've seen the movie more than once... Very huge, cool old building! It's going up for auction. I hope they don't knock it down!
I think if you lived in these condos it would kind of be like living in a Sci-Fi movie.
Ok, so maybe you've seen enough buildings for now. You can see LOTS more, and more shots overall from my trip to Chicago if you check out my
Flickr set.
How has everyone's summer been? Mine is just flying by. Why do they always do that? And truthfully, we haven't even had much for hot weather this year. We are about to start our January 2010 catalog at work, so I'm feeling very rushed through my summer. I am looking forward to the first week of August when I will be on vacation visiting my parents in Northern Wisconsin. Yay for Mom's cooking and relaxation. :)
Oh, I did start another knitting project! Yay! I hope it turns out. I need to start finishing knitting projects, not starting more. heehee. Oh well. I'm a great starter, idea person, etc. Follow through...well not so great. Though you've probably figured that out by now. haha
Maybe next time I stop in I'll have a project to show - though it may just be pictures from our camping trip to Door County. Those would be ok too, I think.
Until next time...
